This week we’ve taken a bit of inspiration from our pinterest board How To Make A Sandwich The Right Way and put together a list of our favourite sandwich recipes. We’ve found lots of creative ideas that will hopefully give you lots of inspiration next time you fancy a lunchtime treat!
Jamie Oliver’s Leftover Turkey Banh Mi
First up is a mouth-watering, Vietnamese inspired dish from the UK’s best known chef. If you’re anything like me you’ll have lots of leftover turkey this Christmas so it’s definitely worth keeping this in mind when boxing day rolls around!
2. The Ham, Swiss & Jalapeno Sandwich from Baker By Nature
If you’re a fan of the hit US tv show Fringe then you’ll recognise this as being similar to the snack favoured by “the observers”. If you like spicy food and melted cheese then you cant really go wrong with this one.
3. The French Onion Grilled Cheese from Sylvia Fountaine
Carrying on the melted cheese theme is a super-simple recipe from Sylvia Fountaine at Feastingathome.com. It does take around 50 minutes to make, which is quite a lot for a sandwich, but you only need a handful of ingredients and the result definitely looks like its worth the wait.
4. Greek Chicken Souvlaki from Sarah Coates
If you’re not familiar with Souvlaki, it’s a popular Greek fast food dish which for some reason hasn’t really caught on here in the UK. Hopefully this recipe from Sarah at thesugarhit.com will inspire you to give it a try, i’d take this over a chicken kebab any day!
5. Tieghan Gerard’s Alternative BLT
If you’ve been reading our blog for a while then you’ll remember we featured Tieghan in a post about our favourite baking blogs. Now we know that Tieghan’s site (halfbakedharvest.com) isn’t specifically about baking, but she’s got so many baking recipes on there that we thought she deserved a place on the list. This is another example of why she’s one of the best food bloggers in the business.
6. The Roast Turkey Cobb from Kevin Lynch
Next up is another amazing post-christmas recipe – it has “hangover cure” written all over it if you ask me! As you may have guessed it’s not the healthiest sandwich on the list but who cares, it’s Christmas 🙂
7. The Pumpkin, Chocolate and Brie Grilled Cheese from Two Peas
Now this one is sure to divide opinion, chocolate on a sandwich? Surely not? Well, the readers of twopeasandtheirpod.com seem to love it, so it’s going on the list. It only takes a few minutes to make so I suppose it’s worth giving it a try. After all, chocolate’s great right? Why not try it on a sandwich?
8. Fried Chicken and Waffle Sandwiches from Jonathan Melendez
This next sandwich is really outside of the box, the bread is discarded in favour of two waffles which sandwich together southern fried chicken, bacon, tomatoes, leafy greens and avocados. Yum yum!
9. Slow Cooked Pulled Pork from Caramel Potatoes
Now we couldn’t make a list of our favourite sandwiches without including some slow cooked pork! As with many slow cooker recipes, this one from caramelpotatoes.com is really easy to make and takes very little prep time, it’s basically a case of setting and forgetting. Works for me!
10. Amy Johnson’s Monte Cristo
Finally we’ve got a Monte Cristo from Amy Johnson at Shewearsmanyhats.com. I’ve actually made this one myself and can say that it tastes as good as it looks. The recipe is nice and easy to follow and you don’t need too many ingredients.
So there you have it, 10 delicious sandwich recipes that you can easily make at home. Do you have a favourite? Have you made any yourself? Let us know in the comments below, we’d love to hear from you!
