The sauce has been a staple on any British dining table for over 100 years. It’s great on potatoes, beef dishes and fry ups to name a few.
It was invented by a grocer from Nottingham called Frederick Gibson Garton. The name H.P. Sauce actually comes from the houses of parliament, Garton registered the name when he heard about a restaurant there that had begun serving it. That’s also why a picture of parliament was featured on the packaging for many years.
