Of course you could simplify our method, but to get the very best results, here are our make up instructions. Make-Up Instructions 1. Place the weighed out McDougalls Shortcrust Pastry Mix into a mixing bowl. Select the beater attachment. 2. Blend on Slow speed, slowly adding the water until a dough is formed. Do not over mix. Leave to rest for 10 minutes. 3. Roll out pastry to 3mm (1/8”) thickness and use as required. Bake at 190ºC/375ºF/Gas Mark 5 for 20-30 minutes. For fan-assisted ovens bake at 170ºC/325ºF/Gas Mark 4. Useful hints and tips… For a sweet pastry, add 50g caster sugar to each 1kg pastry mix. To make the pastry easier to handle, place in a covered bowl and chill for 15 minutes. Always allow the pastry to rest for a short time, before placing in the oven to cook. McDougalls Shortcrust Pastry is freeze thaw stable. If the pastry is a little dry during mixing, add a little more water. For best results once opened, keep bag tightly closed and use within 2 months.
